Today while waiting in the confession line I was meditationg on the twenty mysteries of the rosary. I was just saying each one to myself in order and it occurred to me how it all started with Mary and how she endured such hardship and violence and through it all she kept saying yes to God and His Will. "I am the hand maid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to thy word." She said this at first being asked to be the mother of the Son of God and she kept saying it throughout her life and the life of her son.
It also occurred to me that though she endured so much pain God came through for her in the end with the resurrection of her son and then her own assumption into heaven and coronation as Queen of Heaven and Earth. This gives us so much hope and shows us that even in our darkest hour we need to keep our trust in God and know that God will lift us up in the end if we stay true to Him.
Through Mary humanity is lifted up to its true dignity. Mary is not Divine like Christ but completely human. She shows us how we also non-divine humans are meant to be. Through Mary we are shown our true worth and dignity. We are shown that if we say "yes" to God like she did He will also lift us up to our true worth and dignity.

Mary shows us just what true femininity really is doesn't she. In her humility, trust and obedience she said "yes".
