I don't let the kids watch too much t.v. and videos but Disney's Winnie the Pooh is one that I think is really cute for the kids to watch every now and then. It's my three-year-old daughter's favorite right now. Since it's a windy day today and wind advisories are in the forecast right now for the midwest, it made me think of "Pooh's Blustery Day." We had a great walk around the block with our hats and jackets on. I love the fall leaves against the gray sky with the chill in the air. The gusts of winds added some excitement.
Here's some of Pooh's windy day:

Charlie and Dizzy
The children's book Charlie Parker Played Bebop by Chris Raschka is one of our favorites. It's basically a poem that in many instances imitates jazz rhythms with words. It allows for creativity with how you choose to read it and interpret the rhythm of the words. That's what makes it so much fun.
Here is a clip of "Bird" and Dizzy Gillespie. I always forget how much I love jazz until I come across something like this:

A Great Find
A caller on EWTN Radio's Catholic Answers mentioned the group Flipsyde's song Happy Birthday. He called it a pro-life rap song. He said they were a "secular" group too. I had to investigate so I googled it and this is what I found. I thought it was one of the most open, honest things I have ever heard. It cuts through all the politics and politically correct language and seemingly comes from the heart. I'm not sure if this is the personal experience of this young man, Piper, or a song about someone else but how rare it is to hear a man's perspective about the hurt of abortion and expecially a black man's perspective. Apparently this is from 2005 and this group is (or was?)more popular in Europe than in the United States. This song says it all! Please listen.
